Hamilton real estate firm celebrates 25 years in business

THE YEAR 2020 MARKS A MILESTONE ANNIVERSARY FOR BLAIR BLANCHARD STAPLETON LIMITED

The founding partners of BBS — David Blanchard, Drew Blair and Gary Stapleton — would like to thank their loyal clients, customers and employees for 25 years of outstanding success in the business of commercial/industrial real estate sales and leasing.

BBS Realty today announces the launch of new branding and customer-facing tools, including a fresh website and social media presence on LinkedIn and Facebook.

What started as an idea in 1994 — to better serve the needs of their customers in the Hamilton/Burlington region — became a reality in 1995 with the formation of Blair Blanchard Stapleton Limited.

The initial five employees of BBS dedicated themselves to providing a personalized approach to the commercial and investment market, becoming trusted partners in community development and the successful growth of local enterprises.

As BBS continued to evolve over the years, many of the large commercial real estate companies disappeared. BBS found tremendous success with a strategy designed to enhance the businesses operating — or looking to operate — in their home region.

“We found that putting people first is a model that works…”

“We found that putting people first is a model that works,” says founding partner Drew Blair. “The national firms may be more concerned with their name or brand, rather than their talent. We feel it’s not the company that’s important, rather the people, the team, and the knowledge and empathy they provide to their clients.”

Blair also credits his late father, Matt Blair, as a key player on the original BBS team. Matt was a local fast ball player, coach and founder of Ontario Fast Ball League. He served as a councilor and mayor of Stoney Creek.

Fast forward to 2019. Today, the BBS team consists of 15 elite, certified sales representatives in three offices. Areas of expertise encompass industrial sales and leasing; land sales; office leasing; retail and investment real estate and appraisals. Since 2010, BBS has soared with 257% increased sales volume.

Being a locally based company, team members continually absorb knowledge of ever-changing construction methods, zoning by-laws, building codes, environmental conditions and political landscapes. Two offices in Hamilton handle the city and surrounding regions with a third location in Burlington (opened in 2012). These are full-service offices with the ability to coordinate all aspects of a sale/lease transaction covering a wide swath of the Golden Horseshoe including Ancaster, Dundas, Brantford, Burlington, Stoney Creek, Cambridge, Grimsby and St. Catharines.

Over 25 years of consistent growth, Sales of Honorable Mention include:

  • 10-acre Development site Hatt & Ogilvie, Dundas
  • Home Depot, Centennial Pkwy, Stoney Creek
  • 25 Main West, formerly IBM Tower, Hamilton
  • Nethercott Lee Development Site, Hwy 6 & 53
  • Sale of original Ancaster Fairgrounds & subsequent
Relocation of Ancaster Fairgrounds to Trinity Rd site
  • 444 Seaman in Stoney Creek (over 200,000 sq. ft.)
  • Development of the Ancaster Business Park

For BBS, the “size of the deal” doesn’t matter. Their client base ranges from the small, single property user to medium-size industries and Fortune 500 companies.

“In Real Estate, the most constant factor is change, and with that change, comes growth…”

As BBS looks ahead, founding partner Gary Stapleton reflects on the evolving market landscape: “In Real Estate, the most constant factor is change, and with that change, comes growth. Another key factor in our success is that we only hire experienced, reputable people. Ethics are important to us.”
