June 18, 2026 | Our Broker of Record, Mike Beaudoin, recently attended the a Broker Meeting hosted by the Cornerstone Association of REALTORS® at the beautiful Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington. This high-level session brought together local Brokers of Record and Broker Managers for a critical session with leadership from the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO). We prioritize attending board-level events to bring back the vital updates needed to navigate the changing commercial real estate landscape safely and effectively.
The highlight of the meeting was hearing direct insights from the senior leadership team at RECO. Administrator and Acting CEO Jean Lépine shared RECO’s ongoing transformation goals, highlighting a major structural shift toward more proactive, data-driven regulation and enhanced financial oversight for the industry. Following that, Head of Regulatory Compliance and Interim Registrar Glen Thomas provided crucial compliance overviews, specifically focusing on evolving expectations under the Trust in Real Estate Services Act (TRESA). Chief Regulatory Modernization Officer Samantha Pinto also facilitated discussions and provided additional context on ongoing modernization efforts aimed at building a more agile, consumer-focused regulatory framework.

Beyond these presentation updates, the session featured an interactive open Q&A and roundtable. This gave our leadership the valuable opportunity to engage directly with the regulators on the practical implications compliance shifts mean for our daily business operations.
Cornerstone Board Chair Julie Sergi emphasized that the association will continually track and relay these changing requirements to its members. She reinforced their dedication to championing a regulatory environment that upholds the highest professional standards for REALTORS® while actively strengthening consumer trust across Ontario’s real estate sector. Cornerstone remains highly pleased that RECO continues to actively value and engage with the real estate community.
Regulatory compliance is more complex than ever, and active participation by our brokerage leadership ensures that our team remains at the absolute forefront of legal and structural changes. Choosing a brokerage that prioritizes this level of regulatory excellence ensures your commercial investments are protected by the most current industry standards and best practices and ultimately that your goals are met.
